Dutch govt reintroduces face masks as COVID cases rise

The Dutch government has taken a decision to reimpose measures, such as wearing of face masks, in order to curb the latest surge in COVID-19 infections, stated Prime Minister Mark Rutte.

The use of a corona pass, which shows the proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a recent negative COVID test, would be expanded as of November 6 to public places, including museums, gyms and outdoor terraces.

Cases of COVID-19 in the Netherlands have been increasing for a month after most social distancing measures were lifted in late September, and reached their highest level since July during the past week. Hospitals have therefore been forced to cut back on regular care, in order to manage urgent COVID-19 cases… (Reuters, November 2, 2021)
